Professional Wedding Photography
The style of wedding photography has changed significantly in recent years. Traditional photographs are still an important part of wedding shoots but more couples are no looking for something a bit different from their wedding photographers.
Many couples now want a mixed blend of portraiture and photojournalism. These shots will provide couples with a mix of posed wedding photographs and photographs which are more spontaneous.
This makes it a great deal of fun to be a wedding photographer as creative license allows photographers to be imaginative with both locations and types of shots.
All weddings are unique so we regard it as essential to build up good links of communication so that we understand more about the shots you would like. We will know all the ins and outs of your wedding day, so that just like the day itself we also run like clockwork.
The pre wedding shoot is an essential part of our work. Through this we learn more about you as a photographic subject and you will learn more about us as your wedding photographers. You may know our images, but this session means that you get to know how they were captured and become familiar with our photographic style. These sessions usually last a couple of hours and during this time we run through a few standard poses, prompted shots and then some more impromptu work.
Even if you are nervous in front of the camera, there are ways around this and the majority of couples find themselves immersed in what proves to be an enjoyable experience.
Location and settings are a very important part of your wedding day and we always arrive early to photograph the setting. It allows us to observe all of the hidden nooks and interesting spots, whilst being conscious of how the light is going to change.
We pay a great attention to detail during the flurry of activity that is the bride's preparations. We also photograph the groom's preparations although this tends to be a little more relaxed. These are fantastic opportunities for photographing interaction between family members.
We arrive about an hour before the bride will put on her dress to photograph the small details of the preparation. Following this we look to capture the best moments of the preparation; such as when the mother sees her daughter in her wedding dress for the first time.
Every wedding ceremony is different but our focus is always the same - capturing the emotion of your wedding day. We will do whatever we can to capture this, without being obtrusive.
The time after the ceremony is often the most emotional part of the wedding, when the bride, groom and their guests offer exhilarated laughs and smiles. There are different kinds of exits and we will always have found these out before the wedding day. If the newly weds want a photograph of all of their guests this is often the most appropriate time to take it.
Following this the most formal shots take place and we will always scout out the best locations for these to take place. After discussing this with the bride and groom before the wedding day this can be easily arranged. Often we want to capture the emotion as opposed to the scenery, but everything can be discussed and tailored to the parties' requirements.
We stay to take pictures of your wedding reception, and once again this is about continuing to capture the spirit of the occasion. We will try to photograph as many of your guests as is possible.
As an option we are available for commission for a day after shoot. Bride and groom can dress up again should they wish, and we have the option to take some beautiful shots without the pressure of the wedding day. We can use several different locations or just one. Usually this can last around 2 hours but once again we can be flexible to fit your requirements.
All in all, Shack Brothers Photography will do everything possible to give you photographic documentation that captures the emotion of your day.
Portrait Photography
Most people don't know how to stand in front of a camera and are often very uncomfortable or nervous. We're able to help you with this and within no time subjects will relax to allow a lifestyle portraiture session to flow very naturally. Often it's just a little direction that is required before the photographic subjects loosen up.
Most people want elegant or natural portraiture which is different from them just looking at a camera.
Once we have these standard shots we can begin to move to portraits which capture our clients in their environment. This can be very varied with shots from driveways to trees, snow covered hills in the distance or a city skyline, the wide expanse of sand or the wide expanse of water. Whatever the location, it can make a portraiture session very interesting and different.
For this series of photographs our clients are rarely in the centre of the frame and will often be interacting with one another rather than looking directly at the camera. Some photographic subjects are naturals when it comes to interaction in front of the camera, others require some prompting. Once we have the subjects interacting, it will always be more fun and we look for a series of photographs that produce fantastic interactive portraits that are emotional and intimate.
We look for interesting locations, some of the most interesting photographs are taken against unusual backgrounds.
